| Once a year for the past 10 years the Camp Fire USA Orca Council has contracted with the Japanese Defense Force (JDF) to drive their vehicles from Tacoma to Eastern Washington as a fund raiser. Camp Fire uses volunteers to drive the army vehicles, ranging from Jeeps to 15 ton trucks. The State Patrol is kind enough to escort each of the convoys to help with traffic lights and to be there in case one of the trucks breaks down. The JDF also sends along some mechanics in case of break down. These are just a few of teh photographs from our trip. If you would like to view the rest of the photos taken during our trip please click on the GALLERY link below. If you would like a high resolution copy of one of the photographs please send me and E-Mail and let me know which one you'd like. |

![]() ![]() (TOP) If you want to help with the convoy you must beat the sun to Tacoma! Meeting time is O'Dark Thirty! (BOTTOM) Good think we have an ambulance with us. I hope there's no need for one, but you never know since many of us have never driven right hand drive before.. well, I mean, I haven't. |
![]() ![]() (TOP) The trucks are ready to drive and the sun is just now making an appearance. (BOTTOM) Pit stop in Snoqualmi, it's a long drive and we don't go very fast, so it is a much welcome break... Army trucks aren't known for having soft seats! |
![]() Lots of trucks and still very early in the morning. |
![]() Don't worry, we didn't actually need to use the ambulances. |
